Brief Biography

Michael Seaver is an Emergency Nurse and paramedic from the Chicago Metro / Northwest Indiana area and works as an independent consultant and trainer through his company, EMSCON, Ltd. In addition to his nursing work, Michael is an instructor for the American Heart Association and Emergency Nurses Association courses, and is very active in ENA activities at the local, state and national levels.

He brings with him an extensive background in hospital as well as pre-hospital emergency medical services, and has been appointed by the governor of Indiana, to serve on the Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission as the representative of emergency nurses.  He also serves as a committee chair for the Indiana Emergency Medical Services for Children and is active with the Indiana Trauma Advisory Panel. 

Prior to joining the healthcare community, Michael enjoyed a very successful business career, working as a human resource manager and sales manager.  Along with his degree in nursing, Michael's educational background includes an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology and graduate studies in organizational and industrial psychology.

Michael has written and co-authored articles which have appeared in "Nursing Spectrum," "The Journal of Emergency Nursing," "Neonatal Nursing," Pediatric Emergency care," "EMS Magazine" and other publications. He has spoken at local, state, regional, national and international nursing and EMS conferences on topics ranging from humor and stress to PDAs and capnography.  Michael is often recognized as that "Goofy" ER RN for his collection of ER/EMS humor entitled "You might be an ER Nurse if …"
